MCF Elects New Board Members, Officers

The Minnesota Council on Foundations, a membership organization that works actively to strengthen and expand philanthropy, elected Holly Sampson, president of Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, to a second term
as board chair.Other officers and directors were also elected for 2008 at the Nov. 2 annual meeting of members.
A 21-member board of directors governs the Council.
Karen Kelley-Ariwoola, vice president community philanthropy of The Minneapolis Foundation, was elected vice chair; John Larsen, trustee of the John Larsen Foundation, secretary; and Jo-Anne Stately, vice president of development at Indian Land Tenure Foundation, treasurer.
New directors are Nancy Nelson, vice president, chief actuary, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation; and Kate Wolford, president, The McKnight Foundation. Directors elected to a first term after completing a vacancy on the board are Sherry Ristau, president, Southwest Initiative Foundation; Carolyn Roby, vice president, Wells Fargo Foundation Minnesota; and George Thompson, trustee and board chair, Blandin Foundation. Larsen and Carleen Rhodes, CEO, Minnesota Community Foundation and The Saint Paul Foundation, were elected to a second term.
Founded in 1969, the Minnesota Council on Foundations serves the Minnesota community of grantmakers. The council is a regional membership association working to improve the vitality and health of Minnesota communities. Council members include family and private foundations, community and other public foundations, and corporate foundations and giving programs.
