MCF Elects New Board Members, Officers

The Minnesota Council on Foundations, a regional association of grantmakers, elected officers and new directors at its annual meeting of members on December 9. MCF members represent three quarters of all grantmaking in the state, awarding more than $850 million to nonprofits annually.
Karen Kelley-Ariwoola, vice president, community philanthropy of The Minneapolis Foundation, was selected as board chair for 2009.
John Larsen, trustee of the John Larsen Foundation, was elected vice chair.
Kate Wolford, president of The McKnight Foundation, was elected secretary, and
Jo-Anne Stately, vice president of development of the Indian Land Tenure Foundation, will continue as treasurer for a second two-year term.
New directors are Kari Suzuki Bardy, director of operations for Otto Bremer Foundation;
Amy Crawford, executive director of The Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation;
Mark Hiemenz, community relations director for Ameriprise Financial, Inc.;
Mark Lindberg, COO and director of operations and international programs for Medtronic Foundation; and
Kevin Walker, president and CEO of Northwest Area Foundation. Holly Sampson, president of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and outgoing Board Chair, will serve a one-year extra director term.
The Minnesota Council on Foundations is a regional membership association that works actively to strengthen and expand philanthropy. Members include family and private independent foundations, community and other public foundations, and corporate foundations and giving programs.
