Minnesota Council on Foundations Names New
Research and Information Services Manager
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (July 31, 2003) The Minnesota Council on Foundations has appointed Wai Wong-Lai as its new Research and Information Services Manager. She began her new position on July 15, 2003. Wong-Lai will be responsible for managing the Council's research and information services for Minnesota's grantmaking and philanthropy field. This includes research on the latest giving statistics and historical trends, current issues in the field, and best practices of grantmaking organizations. Wong-Lai also will manage the process for maintaining the Council's extensive data and information on Minnesota grantmakers and grants. "Wai Wong-Lai bring extensive and varied experience in the nonprofit sector and solid research skills that will be invaluable in helping the Council maintain and expand its nationally recognized research and information services," says Council president Bill King. "We look forward to the many contributions she will make to the organization and the field." Wong-Lai has 16 years of research experience in the nonprofit sector, primarily in the area of prospect and development research. Prior to joining the Council, she was research manager for The Salvation Army-Northern Division in Roseville. She also has held research positions with Children's Hospitals and Clinics Foundation, the University of Minnesota Foundation and St. Paul Academy and Summit School. Wong-Lai holds a B.A. in international relations from the University of Minnesota, with further studies in the Graduate School of Business at the University of St. Thomas. Founded in 1969, the Minnesota Council on Foundations' mission is to strengthen and expand philanthropy. The Council is a regional membership association of grantmakers working to improve the vitality and health of our communities. Council members include private foundations, community and other public foundations, and corporate foundations and giving programs.
