Foundation law experts will share their expertise on legal basics in areas including dissecting
statutes, rules and regulations for grantmakers. This program will spotlight issues such as fiscal
agents, self-dealing, conflict, current environment, liabilities, lobbying and legislation.
Legal experts will facilitate breakout sessions on focus topics including donor-advised funds and will
also discuss what is new in the legal arena of foundations, including the Pension Protection Act of 2006.

The Effective Grantmaking Series consists of programs on topics
that are fundamental to sound practices and principles for responsible and
effective philanthropy through grantmaking.
Audience:
The sessions are geared toward those new to the field of grantmaking
and/or those who would like a refresher or to update their experience with
the most current information and resources. The programs are open to MCF
members and non-member grantmakers.
