Third Annual Nancy Latimer Convening for Children and Youth

Cost: No charge for this program; space is limited

Audience: Staff and trustees with an interest in funding early childhood issues and needs; early childhood professionals and practitioners; members of nonprofit organizations concerned about the health and well-being of young children and their families; others interested in children’s mental health.

Program description: This year's Nancy Latimer Convening for Children and Youth will focus on children's mental health and honor Latimer's legacy with speakers, discussion, and presentation of the annual "Nancy" Award recognizing extraordinary leadership in improving the well-being of children. Honorees are:

  • Dr. Glenace Edwall, director of the Children’s Mental Health Division at the Minnesota Department of Human Services and current chair of Minnesota Child Psychologists
     

  • Zoe Nicholie who retired this year from Ready 4 K, where she served as early childhood systems specialist and directed the Build Initiative and public policy work to build early childhood systems

We will also hear from:

  • Candy Kragthorpe, director of the Minnesota Association of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, on understanding the dynamics of infant/toddler mental health issues, and
     

  • Leaders of the Minnesota Initiative Foundations’ regional Thrive Projects, which are building strong community-based coalitions to address young children’s mental health needs.
