The Native American and philanthropic communities of Minnesota
existed together before organized philanthropy began. Since the early 1990s,
Tribal philanthropy has increased significantly and Native
professionals have joined as staff and board members of Minnesota foundations,
but gaps still persist. This summit will look at a recent mapping and research
report documenting the assets in Native communities and the resources available
to strengthen them, as well as focus on solutions to the gap and to identify future actions
and policies that can contribute to the quality of life of the Native American
community in Minnesota.
Lodging
A discounted rate of $39 plus applicable taxes is available for attendees at
Eddy's Lake Mille Lacs Resort for Thursday night, Sept. 27. Reservations must be made directly
to the hotel by Sept. 13; call 1.800.468.3517 and enter "1" for Mille Lacs Hotels. Discounted rates will not apply after
that date, and be aware the hotel may fill as there is another large event at
the Casino.
Transportation
Interested in carpooling or a shuttle bus? We would like to make it as
convenient as possible for grantmakers to attend this important event, and will
coordinate carpooling or, if there is enough interest, retaining a
bus to transport attendees to Mille Lacs for a small additional fee. If you are
interested, please note on the program registration form and we will contact you
regarding transportation options.

philanthropy, we ask that all attendees at MCF events please refrain from any
solicitation of other participants.
