Brainerd Community Foundation Supports Youth
Programs and Human Services The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation has shown its support of youth programs and human services in its latest round of grantmaking. The four grants total $13,000. In the area of human services, the foundation awarded $5,000 to Bridges of Hope for general operations in providing assistance to families and connecting them to area social service agencies and faith communities. The Region Five Development Commission in Staples received a $2,000 grant to begin a Bootstraps Program in Crow Wing County that will assist 12 families in overcoming barriers that prevent them from achieving home ownership. In the area of youth programs, Kinship Partners received a $3,000 grant for the Blueprints Program, an eight-week summer program for at-risk children, which helps them to develop goals and make smart choices about their future. The foundation also awarded $3,000 to Brainerd Lakes Timber Bay to provide services for the Real World Program, which provides opportunities to youth to learn life skills for independent living.
