Northland Foundation Donates Atlas of Minnesota to Local Schools

The Northland Foundation, Duluth, has provided a complimentary copy of the "Atlas of Minnesota, 2nd edition" to 58 middle and high schools in the seven-county region of northeastern Minnesota.

"Given the tight budgets in school districts, we realize the difficulties they have in acquiring up-to-date curriculum materials," says Tom Renier, Northland Foundation president. "The Northland Foundation is pleased to offer this educational resource to support student learning."

"It is terrific that the Northland Foundation provided the 'Atlas of Minnesota' publication to our school," said Warren Peterson, principal of Cloquet Senior High School. "Of all the materials that cross my desk daily, this is the most valuable resource I have seen in years."

The "Atlas of Minnesota" is a joint project of the Center for Rural Policy and Development, the University of Minnesota Extension Service and the Blandin Foundation. With a user-friendly format and interactive CD-ROM, the Atlas covers 150 topics organized within eleven themes: people, housing, income/poverty, economic vitality, infrastructure, agriculture, environment, education, health, public safety, and civic engagement and the arts.
