Minnesota Twins Community Fund Announces 2005 Community Outreach and Grant Programs The Minnesota Twins Community Fund, Minneapolis, has announced its 2005 grant and community support programs. In 2005, the Fund will distribute more than $700,000 to promote and improve youth baseball, softball and education in the Upper Midwest, southwest Florida and Latin America. The Fund is currently accepting grant applications for the following grant programs and activities in 2005: Recreational Programs: Fields for Kids: Grants to renovate or construct youth baseball and softball fields throughout the Upper Midwest. Twins Youth Clinics: Free youth skills clinics throughout the Upper Midwest and southwest Florida. Tournament Grants: Grants to assist Upper Midwest regional and national youth baseball and softball tournaments. Play Ball Minnesota!: Collaboration to promote and improve youth baseball and softball throughout Minnesota. (A Web site, www.playballminnesota.com, will be launched in early spring 2005 and will include a variety of youth baseball and softball information.) Youth Baseball/Softball Expansion Grants: Grants to assist Upper Midwest baseball and softball organizations increase youth participation in the games. Summer Baseball/Softball Camp Scholarships (new in 2005): Scholarships to give economically-disadvantaged youth the opportunity to attend summer baseball/softball advanced-instructional camps. Rookie League and Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI): Grant support for summer youth baseball and softball programs in Duluth; Minneapolis; St. Paul; Rochester; and Winnipeg, Manitoba. RBI Academy: Advanced baseball and softball skills training for RBI participants. RBI Regional Tournament: Financial assistance for the RBI Midwest Regional Tournament, which will be held in Minneapolis/St. Paul in July 2005. Educational Programs: Ticket Donation Program: Together, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund will distribute more than $2.5 million in support in 2005.
