Catholic Community Foundation Awards Record Grants in 2003 The Catholic Community Foundation in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis distributed more than $4 million in grants to 220 organizations from July through December 2003 to support education, social services and religion. During 2003, the foundation awarded a record $6.3 million in grants, and has distributed more than $33 million in grants since its inception in 1992. Of the grants that the foundation distributed during the second half of 2003, 40 percent of the funding went to support education, 8 percent to support social services, and the remainder to support religious organizations, including 6 percent to parishes, 6 percent to seminaries and 40 percent to other religious organizations. The foundation's grant distributions come from endowments, beneficial endowments, trusts and transfers from donor-advised funds.
