Medtronic Sets Single Deadline for Twin Cities "Health in the Community" Grants The Medtronic Foundation has consolidated its three Twin Cities "Health in the Community" grant application deadlines to a single annual deadline - July 15. The change is effective immediately. The foundation's Twin Cities "Health in the Community" program supports organizations providing health care to socioeconomically disadvantaged people in the seven-county metropolitan area. Priority is given to programs that reduce racial disparities in health care. This announcement does not affect any other grantmaking programs of the foundation, nor does it affect "Health in the Community" applications considered by Medtronic facility committees outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area. In other changes, the foundation announced that grant applicants could look for a new, convenient online application process for all foundation grantmaking programs beginning later this year. "We are making these changes to serve community organizations better," said David Etzwiler, senior director, Medtronic Foundation and government affairs. "One deadline allows us to assess community needs in a broader context when allocating our resources. At the same time, the change provides our community partners a more level playing field in the application process."
