Otto Bremer Foundation Helps Northwest Minnesota Recover from Floods The Otto Bremer Foundation, St. Paul, has provided funding to help meet emergency assistance needs for people affected by the extreme flood conditions in northwestern Minnesota. Bremer's $50,000 grant will go to the Emergency Response Fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation in Bemidji. "We're very grateful for the generous grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation to support recovery efforts throughout the region," said John Ostrem, executive director of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation. "In the short term, we're providing emergency funds to the Community Action Agencies for immediate individual needs. For the long-term, we'll be working on recovery planning and helping affected communities to rebuild." The foundation's Emergency Response Fund will continue to accept contributions in support of the extensive financial needs for flood recovery in the region. Individuals, businesses and organizations that would like to support the recovery effort with a donation may contact the foundation at 800/659-7859 (Minnesota only) or 218/759-2057. Credit cards are accepted, and checks can be sent to: Northwest Minnesota Foundation, 4225 Technology Drive NW, Bemidji, MN 56601. In addition, Community Flood Recovery Funds have been established with the Northwest Minnesota Foundation in the Roseau, Warroad and Mahnomen regions. These funds, directed by local advisory committees, are soliciting donations and will be recommending grants for the immediate and long-term needs in their areas.
