Comcast Receives 2005 HERBIE Award from St. Paul Area Chamber Of Commerce Comcast, St. Paul, has received the 2005 HERBIE Award from the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation in recognition for being an integral part of the community and leading with exemplary dedication and significant community and public service. The HERBIE award is named after former U.S. Olympic Hockey Coach Herb Brooks. To be considered for the award, a company must have made a significant contribution of excellence that advances the St. Paul/East Metro area by making it a desirable place to live and work, and must demonstrate the following qualities: humanitarian, enterprising, resilient, bold, inspirational and ethical. "We are extremely proud to be presented with the 2005 HERBIE Award," said Bill Wright, Comcast’s area vice president. "It is recognition of 1,200 local Comcast employees who are contributing to a place that we are proud to live and work." Comcast's nomination featured their massive volunteer program, Comcast Cares, in which Comcast employees donate thousands of hours annually to a variety of causes and initiatives throughout the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin. In addition, Comcast provides community nonprofits a way to tell their story through a television news program called Comcast Newsmakers. Newsmakers runs within CNN Headline News across Comcast’s Twin Cities area network and reaches nearly 300,000 area homes. |
