Northwest Minnesota Foundation Seeks Excellence Award Nominations

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation, Bemidji, welcomes nominations for the Ruth Edevold Excellence Awards. These annual awards are given to individuals and organizations in the foundation's 12-county service area in northwest Minnesota.

Nominations are being accepted in one or more of the following award categories:

  • Ruth Edevold Award for Excellence in Leadership (for NMF Leadership Alumni only). Awarded to individuals whose leadership training has helped in his/her personal life, job and volunteer activities; who has experienced beneficial changes since attending the foundation's leadership training; and whose training has impacted the leadership experience in their community or organization.
       
  • Ruth Edevold Award for Individual Excellence in an Organization. Awarded to an individual who has attended at least one foundation leadership or training workshop; whose work and contributions in a nonprofit or government agency have been exemplary; and who has contributed to the agency, the community and the region in an active leadership role.
       
  • Ruth Edevold Award for Organizational Excellence. Awarded to a nonprofit or government agency that has been involved with the foundation's training and workshops and received a grant. The organization must have shown a positive impact from its involvement; shown improved access to funding sources; received recognition from the community or peers for its work; and undertaken new activities that benefit the community and people served.

Award recipients will receive an engraved plaque and will select a nonprofit charity in the region to receive a $1,000 unrestricted grant from the foundation. The awards will be presented at the foundation's Annual Celebration Dinner on May 13, 2004.

Award nominees must be located in the 12-county region of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau counties. The deadline for submissions is March 26, 2004. Nomination forms are available on the foundation's Web site or by calling the foundation at 218/759-2057, 800/659-7859.
