Northwest Minnesota Women's Fund Issues Request for Proposals

The Northwest Minnesota Women's Fund, Bemidji, welcomes funding proposals for programs and services that benefit women and girls within the 12-county region of northwest Minnesota.

The Women's Fund will consider grant requests of up to $1,000 from 501(c)(3) organizations to meet the needs of females in one or more of the following areas: cultural interactions, economic development, education, health care and housing. Eligible projects for funding can include forums, speakers, workshops, individual career counseling or scholarships for state and national conferences.

Formed in 1997 as a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, Bemidji, the Women's Fund serves as a catalyst for improving the quality of life for women and girls and for promoting ideas and supporting programs for the strengthening and empowerment of all women.

Grant selection criteria will focus on how the project/program meets the Women's Fund mission; the scope of the project/program focusing beyond traditional opportunities; how the project/program is inclusive of all types of diversity; the geographic area served; and the number of participants, communities and organizations served. Applicants must be located in one of the 12 counties served by Northwest Minnesota Foundation: Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau.

The deadline for submission of proposals is May 3, 2004. Grants will be awarded by June 30, 2004. For an application, visit Northwest Minnesota Foundation's Web site, or contact Lisa Peterson, 218/759-2057, 800/659-7859, lisap@nwmf.org.
