PFund Creates New Fund for GLBT Senior Initiatives

Philanthrofund Foundation (PFund), Minneapolis, welcomes applications for grants from a new fund to support the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) seniors. Applications are due by April 30, 2004.

PFund has created the Paul Marystone Fund for GLBT Senior Initiatives to honor the memory of Paul Marystone, who left a substantial bequest to the foundation. Prior to his death, Marystone expressed his interest in supporting efforts to address the needs of GLBT seniors, a fast-growing segment of the community.

PFund will award up to $6,000 from the Paul Marystone Fund to one or more organizations to support projects to address one or more of the following areas:

  • Organizational development and capacity-building of organizations serving GLBT seniors.
  • Development of services and resources for GLBT seniors.
  • Programs and program development to educate service providers about the needs of GLBT seniors.

To be considered for a grant from the Paul Marystone Fund, an organization must support PFund's vision and mission and must also meet the following criteria:

  • Benefit GLBT people and their allies.
  • Have a program service area in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota or Wisconsin.
  • Be in compliance with the requirements of any previous grant awards from PFund.
  • Include a signed statement of non-discrimination.
  • Be a nonprofit 501(c)3 or 501(c)4 organization or provide documentation that the organization is sponsored by a fiscal agent that has 501(c)3 or 501(c)4 status.

For more information and an application, visit PFund's Web site.
