American Express Named "Outstanding Philanthropic Organization"

American Express Financial Advisors is this year's recipient of the "Outstanding Philanthropic Organization" award from the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The award will be presented to the company on November 13 as part of AFP's Philanthropy Day 2003 event.

The American Express Minnesota Philanthropic Program is one of Minnesota's largest and most active corporate grantmakers. The company donated more than $7.5 million to nonprofits in Minnesota in 2002, ranking as the 11th-largest corporate grantmaker in the state according to the Minnesota Council on Foundations. American Express funding priorities are in the areas of Community Service, Cultural Heritage and Economic Independence.

In addition to American Express, other recipients of the 2003 Minnesota Philanthropy Day Awards are:

  • Outstanding Individual Philanthropist:
    Olivia Irvine Dodge
       
  • Outstanding Professional Fundraiser:
    Carol Schmidt, CFRE
