The Daulton Foundation Supports Children's Exercise Medicine Clinic A new clinic at the St. Paul Children's Hospitals and Clinics to help children who can benefit from more regular exercise has received support from The Daulton Foundation in St. Paul. The foundation's $25,000 grant will help the clinic expand the reach of its efforts. Dr. Dan Halvorsen, clinic director of the new Kohl's Power3 Exercise Medicine Clinic said the goal of the clinic is "to complement the treatment of disease by improving health, fitness, energy and performance through exercise." Patients presently being referred to Dr Halvorsen through their primary physician office have diseases including asthma, cancer, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, depression, ADHD and ADD, mental well-being, chronic fatigue and other diagnoses including obesity and nutrition improvement. The Daulton Foundation was incorporated in October 2003 and granted 501(c)(3) status in December 2003. The foundation's mission is "to improve the quality of lives of women, children and families through grants and programs that make systemic change in the communities in which we live and work." The foundation envisions being a catalyst to get the broader community involved in creating a society where children and families have the housing and resources they need to succeed. |
