Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation Supports HealthFinders Collaborative HealthFinders Collaborative in Rice County will soon be developing a community-owned network of health care services thanks in part to a $5,000 collaboration grant from Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation in Owatonna. HealthFinders is a multicultural and multi-city effort of more than 75 residents from Rice County churches, associations, businesses and institutions committed to delivering solutions to health care resources for the growing number of uninsured children, families and individuals in our communities. The grant was awarded as part of the foundation's Community Success Program, which believes that vibrant communities build on the social and economic assets of their people and organizations. "We recognize that working together as a community is a legitimate way to begin to break down some of the barriers and develop authentic relationships among diverse leaders," said Nancy Ludescher on behalf of the Collaborative. "We are well aware of the power that citizens providing leadership can have, and we are very grateful for Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation's support of our collaborative." Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation's investment in Rice County totals more than $1.5 million to date and includes nine business loans totaling more than $1 million and 75 grants totaling nearly $570,000. |
