Butler Family Foundation Supports Humanities, Arts and Environment

The Patrick and Aimee Butler Family Foundation supported humanities, the arts & humanities, and the environment during its October 2005 round of grants.

The foundation awarded $100,000 to Bridge for Runaway Youth for support of its center, $100,000 to the Jeremiah Program for the St. Paul campus expansion, and $100,000 to St. Stephen's Human Services for its capital campaign.

In the area of arts & humanities, Twin Cities Public Television was awarded $25,000 for the Closed Captioning Project. MacPhail Center for Music received $10,000 for the Pathways to Performance program. The foundation also provided grants for general operating support to the Minnesota Historical Society, Milkweed Editions, the Minnesota Children's Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Science Museum of Minnesota, among others.

The Minnesota Environmental Partnership received $20,000 for the Protect Our Water program, while the Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness received $14,000 to support the Protect Minnesota's Wilderness campaign. The environment has emerged as a new priority for the foundation during the last decade.

Other notable grants:

  • $75,000 to Neighborhood House for community building
  • $25,000 to Headwaters Foundation for Justice for the Social Change Fund grantmaking program
  • $20,000 to Hamline University for the River Exploration Trunk Legacy Program
