Grotto Foundation Selects 8 Fellows For
Philanthropic Leadership Development Program

The Grotto Foundation's American Indian Family Empowerment Program (AIFEP) launched a two-year Native leadership program and selected eight American Indian fellows, each from a different tribe.

Serving in an apprentice capacity to the AIFEP Advisory Committee, the fellows will engage in a variety of philanthropic leadership development activities, including fiduciary management, philanthropic administration and grantmaking, to advance American Indian leadership within the local philanthropic arena and promote AIFEP as a model for philanthropic decision-making and giving for Native communities. The W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Unleashing Resources Initiative funded the leadership program.

The fellows bring an exceptional range of professional experiences and skills in business, education, social services, philanthropy, Native arts and health management:
  • Yvonne Barrett (Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe), executive director, Ain Dah Yung Center

  • John Bobolink (Leech Lake Ojibwe), lead teacher, St. Paul Public Schools

  • Jackie Dionne (Turtle Mountail Ojibwe), aging services specialist, Minnesota Board on Aging

  • Chelsea Fairbanks (Navajo), MIS, Ain Dah Yung Center

  • Janice LaFloe (Turtle Mountain Ojibwe), associate director, American Indian Family Center

  • LeMoine Lapointe (Sicangu Lakota, Rosebud), program director, Healthy Nations at Minneapolis American Indian Center

  • Carrie Morris (Omaha), child protection and social worker, Ramsey County
