Initiative Foundation Assists Community-Based Organizations The Healthy Communities Partnership program provides leadership training, technical assistance, resource referral and grants to volunteer leadership teams as they guide local efforts to create citizen-driven plans for the future of their communities. Clarissa, Isle and Wahkton each received $10,000 through this program. North Branch Area Schools' Early Childhood Coalition was awarded $15,000 to implement an early childhood action plan to address early literacy, community awareness, parent education, family recreation and early childhood advocacy. Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools' First Start Early Education Program received $10,000 to implement a new early childhood and parenting program for families experiencing poverty and other challenges. Communities Connecting Cultures in Melrose received $7,500 to provide support, referral services, translation and volunteer opportunities for Latino residents. The Brainerd Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce's Ready or Not, Here They Come! received $2,500 to plan events that will connect businesses and schools in workforce development activities. Continuing the foundation's efforts against methamphetamine, Todd County and Wadena County were each awarded $15,000 and the Stearns County Human Services' Meth Reduction Project was awarded $10,000 to form citizen task forces to combat the trafficking, usage and production of methamphetamine.
