Macy's Seeks 2008 Community Partners
April 28, 2008
Macy’s will award $165,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations in the Macy’s North region of Macy’s East. These grants are a part of Macy’s local community giving initiative developed to enhance communities and encourage employee volunteerism.
Macy’s Community Grants program awards funding to 501(c)(3) organizations that benefit their communities in three areas: arts, childhood education, and women’s and children’s health and wellness. The 33 selected organizations that meet Macy’s funding guidelines will receive a $5,000 grant to fund programming at the organization. Throughout the year, Macy’s store associates will be available to volunteer with the partner organization.
Macy’s Community Grants awards funding to organizations with IRS 501(c) (3) certification and to units of local government where Macy’s North stores are based in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Grants are awarded based upon an evaluation of achieved results, continuing need and available funds. Macy’s does not award grants to places of worship devoted solely to religious instruction.
Applications will be accepted for consideration through June 13, 2008. Find an application and additional information at www.macysinc.com/communitygrants, contact your local participating Macy’s store and ask for the store manager, or e-mail macys.gives@macys.com. Grant recipients will be announced in September, and funding will be distributed in November.
