Medtronic Donates $100 Million to Fund
Philanthropic Work of its Foundation

Medtronic, Inc.'s board of directors approved a $100 million donation to the Medtronic Foundation. The cash donation will be used to directly fund various foundation programs over the next several years. The gift represents the largest single contribution ever provided by the company to fund the philanthropic activities of its foundation.

"We are pleased to be able to demonstrate Medtronic's continuing endorsement of the work of the Foundation and our commitment to the many worthwhile programs in the communities where we live and work," said Art Collins, Medtronic chairman and CEO. "Combined with the dedicated effort of the foundation's professional staff and the volunteer activities of Medtronic employees, this funding will ensure significant support for a wide variety of programs for years to come."

Established more than 25 years ago, the Medtronic Foundation's grantmaking is focused in three specific areas: health, education and community.
