Medtronic Helps Nonprofits Build Awareness

Medtronic launched a new philanthropic effort with the unveiling of a "community billboard" to help raise awareness of Minnesota nonprofit organizations and their causes, events and accomplishments.

The illuminated, two-sided billboard is located on Interstate 694 in Fridley. More than 123,000 cars pass the location each day. Medtronic will provide the billboard space and pay for production and installation costs, in addition to offering creative assistance. Inaugural billboards debuting this month feature Minnesota FoodShare and Courage Center, two long-time Medtronic community partners.

Worldwide, Medtronic and the Medtronic Foundation gave nearly $50 million in grants and medical device donations in 2006. In Minnesota alone, Medtronic helps more than 170 nonprofit organizations with grants exceeding $7.4 million.
