Philanthrofund Foundation Announces Grant Recipients Philanthrofund Foundation (PFund) awarded its 2006 grants to 20 organizations that support and advance equality in GLBT communities in the Midwest with focuses that range from research to supporting high school students to filmmaking.
Minnesota-based aMaze was granted $3,000 to support its Families All Matter Book Project, which gives educators a practical, research-based tool for countering the biases that can interfere with children's academic and social success. The program uses picture books to explore weekly themes of race/ethnicity, immigration, adoption, gay and lesbian family members, divorce and other issues. Bright Eyes Productions of Minneapolis was granted $2,500 to help fund an original theater piece. The company creates performance art that reflects the challenges and triumphs in the everyday lives of GLBT people, while focusing on the interconnected forms of oppression that affect a much wider population.
