New SMIF Incentive Grants

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation is offering $100,000 in a round of incentive grants. Grants of up to $20,000 can be received to support asset-based collaborative projects in emerging business and emerging workforce areas:
  • New Immigrants: community-based projects that capitalize on the asset of new immigrants in the workplace

  • Engaged Elders: community-based projects that provide opportunities for older citizens to engage in paid employment, or volunteerism related to SMIF's other business and workforce interest areas

  • Experiential Career Education: community-based projects that provide opportunities for non-college-bound students to succeed in the workplace

  • Entrepreneurship: community-based projects that support the creation of entrepreneur-friendly communities

  • Biobusiness: community-based projects that grow emerging bio medical and bio agricultural businesses including renewable energy options

Pre-applications for this grant round are due October 1, 2008, and awards will be announced January 16, 2009.
