Thrivent Made $429 Million Impact In 2005 Thrivent made $120.4 million in direct contributions to communities, nonprofit organizations and Lutheran institutions through Thrivent Financial-sponsored programs. Members raised and donated $181.8 million through chapter fundraising events and direct gfts. In addition, members gave 21.4 million volunteer hours (valued at $127.1 million) and participated in 96,400 chapter activities. In response to the natural disasters in 2005, members donated and raised more than $12 million (and Thrivent supplemented $2.5 million) to Hurricane Katrina relief, and nearly $10 million to Southeast Asia tsunami relief. "Thrivent Financial members are the foundation of our organization," said Bruce Nicholson, chairman, president and CEO. "Thanks to the caring and grassroots service of our members, Thrivent Financial's impact is multiplied throughout countless congregations and communities. We are extremely proud of the help we provide and the generous gifts of time, talent and treasures our members continue to give." During 2006, Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity will partner with 312 low-income families to move them into safe, affordable houses in the first year of a four-year alliance. "Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity not only gives hope to families in need, but it also provides Thrivent Financial members an opportunity to participate in building homes with those families and ultimately changing lives," said Brad Hewitt, senior vice president of fraternal operations. > More headlines |
