Twins, Toro and Land O'Lakes Award Twins Fields for Kids Grants The Twins Community Fund, The Toro Company and Land O'Lakes approved 21 Twins Fields for Kids grants, totaling $100,500. Established in 1999, the Fields for Kids program makes cash contributions to improve the condition of youth baseball and softball fields. Since its inception, more than $1.1 million has been granted to help renovate 270 ball fields in the Upper Midwest and Southwest Florida.
The Twins also awarded $50,000 each to the St. Paul and Minneapolis Parks and Recreation departments to help each city operate the Twins Rookie League and Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) youth baseball and softball leagues. More than 8,000 youth will participate in these programs in 2006. An additional $10,000 was granted to the St. Paul department to help renovate the batting cages at the Rice/Arlington Sports Complex.
