Valspar, Initiative Foundations Team Up For Ninth Picture-It-Painted Program
"Valspar has been extremely pleased with this partnership," said Gwen Leifeld, manager of Valspar Foundation. "The Initiative Funds do an excellent job of administering it, and it provides Valspar the opportunity to connect with greater Minnesota. We look forward to continuing it into the future." Projects that may qualify for a grant include historic buildings, community centers, public buildings, facilities for seniors or people with disabilities, murals and other visual impact projects. Projects that do not qualify include churches, city maintenance, schools (except murals) and privately owned buildings. The Initiative Foundations are divided into six regions that cover all of Minnesota. Valspar provides all of the paint for these statewide projects and also provides a technical team to meet with the project representatives to answer questions and deal with unique applications. "The Picture-It-Painted Program has made thousands of gallons of paint available over the years, which has resulted in visual improvements all around the region," said John Ostrem, president of Northwest Minnesota Foundation. "Many towns and organizations will compete for this chance to renew or preserve a community asset. We encourage all applications and appreciate the spirit shown for the projects." In the program's previous eight years, 486 projects have been completed using over 21,000 gallons of paint. Grant applications are due by Wednesday, March 1 (with the exception of Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, Feb. 22). For more information on the Picture-It-Painted Program or to request an application, contact the Minnesota Initiative Foundation that serves your region:
