DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS MANAGER
SteppingStone Theatre

Status: Full-time
Salary: Commensurate with experience


About SteppingStone Theatre:
SteppingStone Theatre has a 20-year history of producing high-quality educational theatre programs and has brought its unique brand of youth-centered theatre education to schools and community centers around the region. SteppingStone Theatre has just completed work on its first permanent home, a 20,000-square-foot former church on 55 Victoria Street North, St. Paul.


Job description:
The development & community relations manager is a new position for SteppingStone Theatre. The position will be the primary fundraiser for both individual and institutional giving. Also responsible for developing relationships with arts and culture and community organizations, corporations and businesses to support the visibility and fundraising of the theatre.
  • Grant writing & individual donor cultivation:
    • Cultivate and solicit corporate, foundation and government donors
    • Research and write grant proposals
    • Correspond and report to donors
    • Cultivate and solicit major individual donors
    • Create and execute individual campaign plan
    • Create and coordinate special fundraising events
    • Maintain donor database
  • Community relations:
    • Seek relationships and partnerships with organizations to enhance the visibility of the theatre
    • Create grassroots network of support to build volunteer, patron and participation base
    • Develop sponsorship opportunities with area businesses
  • General responsibilities:
    • Work with staff to create grant proposals and reports for specific programs
    • Create and manage budgets and strategic plans and work effectively within both
    • Work with public relations consultants to develop communications strategy
    • Represent the theatre as spokesperson/representative as necessary
    • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Strong commitment to theatre for young people and SteppingStone Theatre’s mission
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • A proven track record of successful fundraising
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with individuals and groups
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and successfully manage multiple tasks
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with internet research and Microsoft Office applications
