STUDENT RESOURCES COORDINATOR

The Minneapolis Foundation is a statewide center for philanthropy where Minnesotans make a difference everyday. We are seeking a dynamic individual to design, coordinate and implement individual and organizational partnerships that result in quality youth development experiences for students in the foundation's Destination 2010 initiative. Destination 2010 provides scholarships, academic enrichment and support services to approximately 200 members of the class of 2010 (spring 2008 10th graders) in Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Schools. Position description:
The student resource coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all Destination 2010 students are connected to caring and competent adults (i.e., tutors and mentors) and to resources that support their academic and social development. This is a fulltime, exempt position including some evening and weekend work. Position to terminate with program — no later than fall 2010. Major activity areas:
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals — inside and outside the foundation, with a wide variety of work and personal styles, on a daily basis
  • Ability and commitment to work as a team member
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to work at a PC for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move around the community freely

Qualifications:
  • B.A. or master’s in social work, youth development, education, or a related field
  • Experience working effectively with urban, at-risk youth
  • Knowledge of local youth serving programs and collaborations
  • Experience with communities of color
