DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR/FUNDRAISING MANAGER

Job summary:
Project for Pride in Living (PPL), a leading multiservice agency focusing on affordable housing, employment training, support services and education, seeks a full-time Development Director/Fundraising Manager to assist in securing corporate, foundation, government and individual support for a diverse range of programming as part of a team in a high-volume fundraising department responsible for raising nearly $6 million annually.


Essential job functions:
The Fundraising Manager is a leadership position in a seven-member fundraising and communications team. This position plays a key role in managing PPL’s corporate and foundation portfolio to help meet fundraising and organizational objectives for this growing nonprofit. Additionally, this position oversees individual giving, focusing on acquisition and retention of individual donors, including several appeals and events with expansion into online fundraising and social networking. The successful candidate will have a background working in nonprofits and demonstrate strong writing, research, communication and organizing skills; they will also have experience supervising other employees.


Supervisory responsibilities:
Direct reports to this position include: Grant writer, Fundraising Coordinator (focus: individual appeals and events), Database Administrator, Fundraising Assistant


Minimum requirements:
  • Demonstrated success in annual fund, individual fundraising and events
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including handling multiple tasks and deadlines; strong attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and interpret a broad range of issues related to PPL’s mission
  • Ability to independently analyze and develop alternative solutions, and make recommendations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels
  • Must be able to self-initiate and work independently
  • Experience in supervising other staff and effectively motivating a team
  • Experience, competence, and sensitivity in working with people of diverse races, cultures and socio-economic levels
  • Demonstrated skill using Microsoft Word and Excel, and the Internet; working knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint, other Microsoft Office products and Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • College degree required, preferably in English, communications, journalism, or a mission-centric field
  • Three to five years of experience the nonprofit sector, journalism, or public relations, including extensive writing and editing duties; proven fundraising experience and success, including strong grant writing skills

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000, depending on experience; compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package.
