INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND EVALUATION COORDINATOR

Hearth Connection seeks someone to join our team who wants to end homelessness.
Hearth Connection is an innovative nonprofit working to end homelessness. We work collaboratively with government, service providers, foundations, housing organizations, and the people who experience homelessness and obtain housing as a result of Hearth Connection’s work.
The position:
The Information Management and Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for turning voluminous data into useful, actionable information to improve programs, inform policy development, document results and support critical business processes. This position also supports Hearth Connection’s technology to ensure smooth operations internally and externally and compliance with funder requirements, and provides training and user support on a custom web application for external partners.
Principal responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain reliable functioning of a multi-platform, distributed information infrastructure including Windows Small Business Servers, Windows XP workstations, Microsoft Access and Sybase databases, Microsoft Visual Basic applications, custom web applications and Linux servers.
- Work with Hearth Connection staff, partner organizations and consultants to enhance existing infrastructure for capturing critical information, supporting routine business processes and reporting to funders, including troubleshooting, documenting requirements for feature enhancements and developing features for Microsoft Access / Visual Basic applications.
- Work with Hearth Connection staff and providers to develop quality assurance tools to support ongoing performance measurement and evaluation needs.
- Analyze, interpret, summarize and present program information for various audiences and purposes.
- Provide training and technical support for Co-Pilot, the organization’s web-based information system for participant information, to ensure that users have the knowledge and skill to effectively and efficiently use technology to advance the mission of the organization.
- Manage and support special projects related to Hearth Connection’s information, reporting and technology needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Ability to identify trends, and collaboratively develop strategies to address those needs.
- Strong influencing skills both within and outside the organization. Ability to drive consensus.
- Strong computer skills and experience with Windows-based applications including Microsoft Access, Excel and Word, and some familiarity with Windows system administration.
- Experience with database administration, data extraction (especially SQL) with Microsoft Access or Sybase, and Visual Basic for Applications programming within Microsoft Access.
- Some familiarity with statistical data analysis, interpretation and presentation of findings.
- Eagerness and ability to be proactive and demonstrate grace under pressure.
- Ability to contribute to the team approach of the organization. Ability to support the contributions of other members of the team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
Desired qualifications:
- Familiarity with Linux system administration.
- Experience with R or similar statistical environments.
- Experience developing technical training curriculum and delivering computer-based training for adults with a wide range of technical sophistication.
- Experience with data integration, and knowledge of or experience using XML data integration technologies.
- Experience with public speaking and presenting highly technical information to various audiences.
