FUND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Saint Paul Public Schools

General information:
The mission and vision of the Office of Fund Development (OFD) is to support the district's capacity to develop promising practices in education by securing competitive revenues and ensuring the success of grant-funded programs. This position performs responsible professional work involving writing and coordinating grants, providing consultation as necessary to meet the requirements of grant writing, and maximizing the amount of grants received. This position reports to the Fund Development Director.


Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following duties:
  • Assist the Fund Development Director in assessing and communicating the strategic planning and fund development needs of the school district.
  • Write, brainstorm, and develop grant proposal strategies and plans.
  • Conduct research relating to strategic planning and fund development needs, analyze results, and provide recommendations.
  • Assist in implementing and communicating information about the fund development process, particularly as it relates to district goals and policy.
  • Monitor education and funding trends and seek out potential matches for strategic funding initiatives.
  • Provide advice and consultation to district administrators and employees in developing, implementing, negotiating, evaluating and reporting on grant proposals.
  • Coordinate the work of consultants (researchers, designers, technicians, etc.) hired for specific projects, including developing timelines and budgets and monitoring quality at all stages of project development.
  • Assist the Fund Development Director to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., SPPS Foundation, parents, community organizations, businesses, government agencies).
  • Coordinate the work of OFD in developing timely reports, data and data systems, spreadsheets, and logic models.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, business or public relations, or related field
  • Four years of professional level experience in proposal development and/or project administration, communications, marketing/promotions or public relations
  • Considerable knowledge of communication, strategic planning, and evaluation
  • Considerable knowledge of writing, grant writing, and fund development
  • Considerable knowledge of project management and cost analysis/monitoring
  • Considerable knowledge of research techniques and data systems
  • Considerable knowledge of public policy issues and policy development
  • Some knowledge of urban public schools and diverse populations
  • Considerable skill in the use of a computer, word processing, database systems, internet research tools, and desktop publishing software
  • Considerable ability to identify emerging issues that would impact the district and the strategic fund development process
  • Considerable ability to interact effectively with both individuals and groups and in a multicultural setting

Pay and benefits:
This is a full-time position which works 12 months per year. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Professional Employees Association (PEA) negotiated labor agreement.
