 CHIEF OF GRANTS AND INITIATIVES Iowa West Foundation Posted Aug. 4, 2008 The Iowa West Foundation, located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that awards grants focused on education, community development and beautification, economic development, and human and social needs to various community projects of governmental entities or nonprofit organizations. With $23.9 million in grants to support 149 projects in 2007, the foundation’s grand total of funding is over $193 million, resulting in a positive impact on over 100 area communities and the lives of thousands of area citizens. Adjacent to Omaha, Nebraska, Council Bluffs is part of a large metropolitan area, with a population of nearly one million people, and many cultural attractions and amenities. Access to downtown Omaha, the Omaha airport, and business and commercial centers is in close proximity to most Council Bluffs residential areas. The position: Reporting to the CEO and managing a staff of 3, the Chief of Grants and Initiatives will oversee all grantmaking for the foundation. The ideal candidate will have a college degree and senior level experience in the nonprofit sector, as well as experience in grantmaking (including strategy development, capacity building, and evaluation). Experience in one or more of the foundation’s focus areas, including experience in reducing high school dropout rates and/or neighborhood revitalization, is preferred.
