RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR Minnesota Council on Economic Education Posted Aug. 4, 2008 We are looking for an experienced resource development professional to join a respected nonprofit and provide leadership and implementation for the council's grantwriting, annual solicitation, and to work with the board of directors to secure corporate and foundation support. If you are experienced in a broad range of development work, a self-starter, and would like to work on rewarding projects that serve people across Minnesota, we want to hear from you. Interest in education is a preferred qualification. Background: The Minnesota Council on Economic Education is an entrepreneurial organization housed on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. The mission of the Council is to provide people with the economic and financial understanding they need to function effectively in a complex, global environment. The Council accomplishes this mission by developing and delivering professional development programs, trainings, and workshops for K-12 teachers and community agencies. We are an energetic and cooperative five-person staff. We handle a full range of assignments, including program development, program planning, fundraising, marketing, accounting, recruiting teachers to participate in Council courses, and managing competitive events such as the statewide Economics Challenge and Personal Finance Decathlon for high school students. The position: This full-time position with excellent benefits is responsible for the planning and implementation of our resource development work. The Development Coordinator handles proposal writing to corporations, state agencies, and foundations; builds relationships with partners; helps establish the annual development goals and plan; conducts research on potential funders; and measures the results of the development work. This position works closely with the Administrative Specialist, who handles data entry and administrative support for the council. Other information: The council, a 501(c)(3), was established in 1961 as a consortium of six universities: Minnesota State University Mankato, Minnesota State University Moorhead, St. Cloud State University, University of St. Thomas, University of Minnesota Duluth, and University of Minnesota Twin Cities. The council has an active and strong board of directors representing corporate, academic, government, and nonprofit organizations. Increased emphasis on teaching economics and personal finance creates a growing demand for the council's workshops, conferences, and courses. To apply: For more information about the council, visit our website at www.mcee.umn.edu. Apply through the University of Minnesota human resources website; reference position posting 156551. See the full position description, online application form, and instructions at employment.umn.edu. The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity educator and employer. > Jobs Index |
