GRANTS MANAGER

Position:
Grants Manager for small professional service organization providing philanthropic and financial services to clients. Reporting to the Program Director, the Grants Manager is responsible for administrative and comprehensive grants management support to SRI’s philanthropic services department.
Primary responsibilities:
- Assist Program Director and Program Officer in maintaining relationships with SRI philanthropic clients, grantees, and community members in a positive, professional manner.
- Manage logging, classifying, data entry, tracking, and responding to letters of inquiry, proposals, and grants.
- Handle administrative functions including preparing and proofreading correspondence, reports, and other documents for philanthropic clients.
- Assure appropriate due diligence procedures are in place and utilized, including use of IRS determination letters, identifying organization’s exempt classification status, and special provisions or limitations.
- Utilize MicroEdge GIFTS database for proposal processing and reporting.
- Coordinate development, preparation and distribution of board meeting packets.
- Respond to audit verification, state and federal registration, surveys and other general foundation inquiries.
- Attend board meetings as required to take minutes.
- Heavy volume of filing, maintain philanthropic department filing system.
- Generate reports and request grant checks from Finance Director.
- Respond and refer telephone and written inquires.
- Continually improve and update grants management procedures; keep procedures manual current.
- Other as needed by philanthropic clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including verbal and written
- Ability to organize and attend to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people, independently and in teams, with the capacity to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; strong aptitude for learning new and/or specialized software programs
- Experience with GIFTS for Windows preferred
- Previous foundation or nonprofit experience helpful
