of Minnesota is a federation which raises funds through workplace giving
campaigns for our 44 member groups on the front lines of social change. In 2008
we raised $700,000 from over 4,500 individuals through payroll contributions or

Job Summary:
The Executive
Director is a full-time position responsible for leading all organizational
activities to meet goals established in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
The Executive Director functions as the lead organizer and manager of the
organization supporting the Board and member organizations and providing
guidance and oversight to staff. The Executive Director implements the
organization’s strategic plan, engages the Board and member organizations, and
empowers the staff. The Executive Director must build strong relationships with
the business and non-profit communities to further the work of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Organizational
Leadership
Provide a strong and consistent vision for Community Shares of Minnesota and
guide the efforts of the Board, member organizations and staff.Organizational Management
Manage personnel and fiscal resources through policies and oversight.
Workplace Giving Campaign Fundraising
Oversee the design, funding, and quality of campaign activities and work to
develop new campaign fundraising opportunities and support existing campaign
fundraising.
Operations Fundraising
Develop and implement an aggressive and sustainable plan to secure funds for
Community Shares of Minnesota’s operations.
Organizational Planning
Develop and implement annual organizational plans, budget and work plans that tie
into a Strategic Plan jointly developed with the Board, member organizations and
staff.
Community Relations
Represent Community Shares of Minnesota to business, social change
organizations, foundation and professional groups.
Qualifications:
- Ability to hold a strong and consistent vision for the organization, and gain
others’ support and effort towards that vision
- Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and implement achievable
organizational plans
- Familiarity with fund development and a track record of development success
- Minimum of five years of proven leadership and management experience required
- B.A./B.S. degree required, Masters preferred
- Prior Executive Director experience preferred
- Familiarity with member-governed organizations
- Facilitative and collaborative working style with ability to hold others
accountable to goals
- Ability to navigate internal organizational and external change
