St. David’s Center is seeking a full-time Manager of Individual Giving who will be responsible for generating new and increased giving for prospective and active donors, including donors of major gifts at the $1,000+ level.  The successful candidate will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, working collaboratively with and in support of the Executive Director, Director of Community Relations and Development, Board members, volunteers, and other St. David’s Center ambassadors.  

Working as an integral member of Development Team, the Manager of Individual Giving must have a strong commitment to St. David’s mission, proven success in raising gifts greater than $1,000, sound fundraising judgment, experience in the use of planned giving tools and strategies, and outstanding communication and organizational skills.


Functions and Tasks:
Responsibility #1: Annual Fund

  • Create and implement comprehensive Annual Fund strategies for current and prospective donors to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Monitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations. Utilize Raiser’s Edge database to manage contacts, moves, and relationships and to track solicitations and cultivation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Director of Community Relations and Development, Board and Leadership Council members, and other ambassadors, offering prospect strategy counsel to all team members managing other prospects.
  • Co-produce high quality materials to support the Annual Fund strategies including personalized appeals, acknowledgement letters, newsletters and investor reports.
  • Working with Director of Community Relations and Development, develop metrics for donor analysis, track results as needed by appeal, campaign, and year-end totals.

Responsibility #2: Major Gifts
Take a lead role in securing major gifts at the $1,000+ level.  Specific work will involve:

  • Collaborate with Development Team to develop strategy for screening, rating, assigning, cultivating and soliciting, closing, and stewarding major gift prospects.
  • Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors.
  • Support volunteer solicitors as they cultivate and solicit their prospects by hosting site visits, providing requested information, assisting with strategy and problem-solving barriers.
  • Develop and implement cultivation strategies for growing the major gifts program and for converting donors of gifts under $1,000 into major gift donors.
  • Cultivate, solicit, close, and steward existing and past annual fund major donors.
  • Develop a strategy for converting past capital campaign major gift donors into annual fund major gift donors.

Responsibility #3: Alumni Relations

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive alumni annual giving campaign.
  • Develop appropriate engagement and cultivation strategies for alumni, involving current staff and volunteers and other key players in the cultivation process.  Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure. 
  • Develop and manage alumni relations program (including special events, on-line directory, social networking, and a variety of other initiatives).
     

The Manager of Individual Giving will prepare an annual work plan including budget and income projections for individual giving.  Success in this position means:

  • An increase in the number of individual donors contributing $500 or less annually as well as their overall returns;

  • An increase in donor retention for donors contributing $500 or less annually;

  • The creation of a plan for 2010-2011 to expand this donor base with measurable goals;

  • Tracking and reporting performance against goals throughout the year;

  • Ongoing analysis of development activities to determine effectiveness in achieving goals;

  • Development of fund development activities utilizing new and emerging mediums such as social networking and other web-based tools; and

  • Fully utilizing the network of current St. David’s Center ambassadors, leveraging relationships and maximizing giving.

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of fund development experience with demonstrated success in donor acquisition and cultivation resulting in new and increased levels of giving.  Master’s Degree or Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
  • The successful candidate will have superior ability in establishing relationships with a diverse group of donors, strategic and analytical thinking skills, and a working knowledge of planned giving techniques, prospect tracking, and donor databases.
  • The successful candidate will be highly motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, and most energized in a multi-tasked environment. 
  • Candidates must have strong information technology skills and experience with Raiser’s Edge and Moves Management. 
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience working within a diverse team and developing effective collaborative relationships with program as well as community relations and development staff. 
  • Additional skills include:  Excellent organizational skills; compelling written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and planning for and meeting deadlines.
  • Must have own car, valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
