The National Marrow Donor ProgramŽ (NMDP) is a leader in the
fast-growing field of cellular transplantation. Everyday, more than 6,000
children and adults are searching for a second chance at life due to a
devastating illness such as leukemia, lymphoma or other threatening disease.
These patients seek the resources of the NMDP with the hope of receiving a
life-saving marrow or cord blood transplant. Our staff helps deliver
cutting-edge science, service and support to those patients and their families.
Be The Match Foundation SM works with families, corporations and other partners
to raise millions of dollars for patients in need. Thousands of patients with
leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on Be The Match Foundation
to raise funds to support the work of the National Marrow Donor ProgramŽ (NMDP).
Development Director, Major Gifts
The Development Director of Major Gifts, at Be The Match Foundation, will raise
funds to support the National Marrow Donor ProgramŽ (NMDP) located in
Minneapolis, MN. This position is responsible for raising funds to support
NMDP’s tri-fold mission - to foster bone marrow transplant research, provide
assistance to bone marrow transplant patients and to grow the Be The Match
Registry.
The Development Director will create and execute complex fundraising strategies
to generate major private philanthropic resources from Be The Match Foundation’s
contributors and prospects. Working under the supervision of the Director of the
Major Gifts Program, will frequently interact with both external and internal
constituents and travel frequently to garner financial support as well as
increase the Foundation’s visibility nationwide.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing,
healthcare, communications or related human service field. CFRE
certification preferred.
- Five years of progressive experience in
development, sales, and/or financial services that includes identifying,
cultivating, and soliciting individuals or organizations, ideally for major
and planned gift opportunities, with a minimum of three years in
development. Experience in an academic development atmosphere preferred.
- Proven ability to raise funds from
individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Demonstrated ability to write successful
proposals, solicitations and reports.
- Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or
comparable development software.
- Excellent oral and written communication;
proficient in word processing software skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention
to detail
- Demonstrated ability to organize multiple
tasks and projects and meet deadlines
- Availability for frequent travel; valid
driver’s license.
