The Northwest Area Foundation was founded in 1934 by Louis W. Hill. Our service region includes the eight states from Minnesota to Washington once served by the Great Northern Railway. Today the Foundation makes grants to support nonprofits and other organizations working to reduce poverty and achieve prosperity. NWAF is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Human Resource Lead.

Human Resources Lead
The Human Resources Lead will be responsible for contributing to increased organizational effectiveness and ensure compliance with all employment related federal, state and local laws and regulations. Working with the key staff of the Foundation, this position will develop, implement and manage all human resource activities including: hiring and orientation, employee relations, training and development, policy development and administration, compensation and benefits design and administration, terminations, and human resource planning.

Our ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of Human Resources Generalist experience directing all major functional areas listed above. Position also requires demonstrated experience working strategically with functional areas, ability to develop and implement project plans, meet deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills are essential for consideration. Four year degree in Human Resources or related field required. SPHR certification or Master’s degree preferred.
