Position Summary: As a member of Minnesota Housing Partnership’s (MHP) Program Team, the Grant Manger will be responsible for maintaining financial and program related records, providing guidance to staff, and compiling reports for MHP’s federal programs including HUD, RCDI and NSP. In addition, this position ensures compliance and reporting of MHP technical assistance activities and MHP loan programs to federal agencies, private organizations, donors, etc. The successful candidate will have exemplary interpersonal skills, ability to function independently and work with a team plus proven organizational skills and attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinates and prepares federal grant reporting and approvals including grant budgets, reconciliation of monthly fund statements and ensures appropriate reporting to federal agencies.
  • Prepares quarterly reports for all sponsored activities in order to ensure compliance with government guidelines.
  • Tracks all federal technical assistance grants and develops and maintains related budgets on a monthly basis to ensure that expenses are within budget parameters.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of federal grant guidelines and ensures compliance with federal procurement policies.
  • Supports MHP staff in maintaining effective grant management of federal and non-federal program grants to MHP.
  • Provides guidance to all MHP staff working under federal grants regarding their own work plans and obligations to technical assistance clients.
  • Coordinates with MHP staff as needed for resolution of errors or identification of charges; assigns expenditures to funds as necessary;
  • Collects evaluation information from grant and technical assistance, facilitates completion of grant and loan documentation and maintains grant and loan records.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration and 4 years related experience in grants administration, or equivalent combination. Minimum 4 years successful experience in government grants administration preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of applicable U.S. federal government circular and standard contract clauses. Demonstrated working knowledge of HUD grants and cooperative agreements preferred.
  • Requires working knowledge of grants’ accounting. Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office including Word and Excel. Requires database management skills with ability to produce reports; ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the internet; ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Experience with contract administration and/or grant administration.

OTHER IMPORTANT QUALITIES INCLUDE

  • Resourceful problem solver with an attention to detail and excellent follow through.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines; must be very organized, use time efficiently and prioritize assignments; work independently and as an effective team member.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including one-to-one communication; ability to prepare clearly written summaries and analysis; experience in tracking program finances preferred.
