WDSE -TV, United Way, Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation to Hold On-Air Fund Drive for Victims of Terrorist Attacks

In an effort to help victims of the September 11 terrorist attackand their families, PBS eight, in partnership with the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation and the United Way of Greater Duluth, will air a two-hour on-air fund drive, "September 11th - A Chance to Help," on Tuesday, September 18 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Channel 8.

All monies raised from the event will be sent directly to The September 11th Fund set up by the United Way and The New York Community Trust. The fund will provide immediate support to established emergency assistance agencies such as the Red Cross and special funds designated for victims' families related specifically to this tragedy.

"September 11th - A Chance to Help" will feature interviews with local firefighters and other emergency responders, counselors, clergy members, and disaster-relief agency representatives from northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. It will also feature interviews with Lorie A. Slutsky, president and director of the New York Community Trust, and with an official of the United Way of New York City.

The program will also offer information to individuals and families on how to deal with the emotional effects of the tragedy.

Anyone wishing to contribute to The September 11th Fund may send their financial contributions payable to The September 11th Fund, c/o WDSE, 1202 E. University Circle, Duluth, MN 55811-2420.
