ING Donates Air Time, Other Assistance for Disaster Relief Efforts

Through the ING Foundation and national community involvement efforts, ING has provided more than $1 million in cash and in-kind donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help with recovery efforts related to the September 11 terrorist attacks. In addition, the foundation will be matching all U.S. employees' personal donations to the American Red Cross.

The in-kind portion of the company's support comes from ING U.S. management donating the company's scheduled national advertising airtime on network and cable television for several days to the Red Cross to help the organization make public service announcements. The 30-second time slots, which would have launched the company's fall advertising campaign, are valued at more than $750,000.

The ING Foundation will also provide a cash donation of $25,000 to The September 11th Fund, a collaborative effort between United Way and the Community Trust of New York. Also, ING will provide a cash donation to the New York City Public/Private Initiatives, Inc. (NYCPPI). This nonprofit organization is accepting contributions to aid the families of Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical workers and other City employees involved in the rescue efforts. The ING DIRECT Kids Foundation has set up a special fund to help support children and their families affected by the attack on America. All contributions to the fund will be donated to children's charities in the New York and Washington, D.C. areas.

ING employee support continues to grow beyond financial donations. More than 20 ING locations have coordinated on-site blood drives throughout the next month. Also, ING AFS employees conducted an on-site medical and supply drive, raising more than a truckload of supplies for the Salvation Army that will travel to emergency workers in the New York area.
