The McKnight Foundation invites nominations for the 2007 Virginia McKnight Binger Awards in Human Service. Every year the foundation recognizes up to 10 Minnesotans who have demonstrated an exceptional personal commitment to helping others in their communities but who have received little or no public recognition; each awardee receives $7,500. Nominations are due July 9, 2007.

Karl Stauber, president and CEO of Northwest Area Foundation, was named the first president and CEO of the Danville (Va.) Regional Foundation, effective Aug. 1.
Stacey Smida was promoted to grants manager for the Cargill Citizenship Fund and the Cargill Foundation.
Lue Her was promoted to program officer for Otto Bremer Foundation.
Kate Walker, controller for Northwest Area Foundation, was named assistant vice president for finance of Macalester College.
Phyllis Rawls Goff was elected to the Mardag Foundation board of directors.

A broad overview of the many resources available to nonprofits in Minnesota. Its primary audience includes those new to working in the nonprofit sector as board members, staff members, and volunteers as well as people who find themselves in new positions at nonprofits. The event features an opening plenary session, 10 breakout sessions and exhibits.

Bush Foundation Expands Artist Fellows Program with Unique Awards for Mature Artists
The Enduring Vision Awards are designed to propel the artistic investigations of older artists and to encourage their continued influence. Three $100,000 awards will be given annually to artists in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota who have at least 25 years of continued work.

Arts and Economic Prosperity III
The nation's nonprofit arts and culture industry has expanded at a rate greater than inflation since Americans for the Arts' first analysis of the sector in 1992. The industry expanded 24 percent between 2000 and 2005, with arts organizations spending $63.1 billion and their audiences spending an additional $103.1 billion in event-related activities for $166.2 billion in total economic activity.
