Part of MCF’s Effective Grantmaking Series.
Description: You have probably heard or been told that your foundation and its giving should be “strategic.” But what does strategic philanthropy actually entail? You’ll leave this session with a better understanding of the true meaning of strategic philanthropy, knowledge of how to determine if your foundation is ready for it and what the change may mean for your organization’s culture and operations.
Based on rigorous graduate level study, Kerrie Blevins will facilitate a session on the definition of strategic philanthropy and provide opportunities for you to reflect on your foundation’s willingness and capacity to be more strategic. While Kerrie’s research was conducted through a lens of small foundations, the principles discussed at this session apply to all types of foundations of any size.
Presenter: Kerrie Blevins, foundation director, Patrick and Aimee Butler Family Foundation, and vice president, Private Philanthropy Services
