ADC Exceeds 2000 Community Fund Campaign Goal, Announces 2001 Giving Budget

The ADC Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Minneapolis-based ADC, has announced more than $1.2 million in pledges and cash gifts that it will distribute to four Minneapolis federated fund organizations in 2000. The amount exceeds the company's goal for its 2000 Community Fund Campaign and represents a 50 percent increase over last year's campaign.

Gifts from ADC's 2000 Community Fund Campaign represent the combined contributions raised from its employees during the campaign plus the company's dollar-for-dollar match of these donations. In addition, the company has matched the increase in funds raised over last year's campaign.

Contributions from ADC's 2000 Community Fund Campaign will go to the United Way of Minneapolis ($878,318), Community Health Charities ($192,773), Minnesota Environmental Fund ($124,248) and United Arts ($38,551).

ADC reports that the number of employees participating in its 2000 campaign increased 62 percent from the previous year and the number who contributed $1,000 or more increased 71 percent. ADC is the lead corporate giver for Community Health Charities and the Minnesota Environmental Fund.

The ADC Foundation has also announced its charitable giving budget for its new fiscal year, which began November 1, 2000. The company says it plans to distribute $6 million in charitable donations to the community in 2001, up from $3.5 million in its 2000 fiscal year.

The foundation's giving priority is to support efforts that close the "digital divide" and provide access to technology to individuals who are disadvantaged by income, geographic location or other circumstances. The foundation also provides grants to improve science, math and technology education at all levels.
