(Feb. 7, 2013) — Each month, the FastBreak Foundation works to identify two local non-profits with goals that are closely aligned with the Foundation's monthly theme and bolster their programming through a $5,000 grant. This month's recipients are YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities (Feb. 1) and North Metro Pediatrics (Feb. 2).
YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities is an inclusive organization of men, women and children who share a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
North Metro Pediatrics' mission is to improve the health and well being of children in the North Metro by providing affordable and accessible pediatric care focused on prevention. The grant will help run the sports physical clinics in Anoka, Hennepin and Fridley school districts, allowing North Metro Pediatrics to connect high school students from low-income families with school and city youth athletic programs by taking out the expensive cost of physicals for uninsured families.
