(Apr. 9, 2013) — Minnesota Philanthropy Partners—a network of more than 1,600 charitable affiliates that includes The Saint Paul Foundation, Minnesota Community Foundation, F. R. Bigelow Foundation and Mardag Foundation—is pleased to announce that Suzanne Kelly has been named chief of staff for the organization. She will officially join MN Partners on April 29, 2013.
In this role, Ms. Kelly will oversee strategic planning and implementation for MN Partners. She will also support the work of the president and CEO, along with that of the management and extended management teams, and the boards of directors.
“Suzanne has an ideal set of skills to excel in this role. She has a proven record of success in chief of staff roles and brings tremendous community insight to our chief of staff position,” said Carleen Rhodes, president and CEO of the Foundations. “She will be a great asset to our organization and our work in Saint Paul and across Minnesota.”
Ms. Kelly joins MN Partners after recently serving as vice president of children, youth and families at Volunteers of America – MN. Prior to this role, she spent five years at the Saint Paul Public Schools where she first served as chief of staff and then as interim superintendent.
Other significant work experience that Ms. Kelly brings to MN Partners are four years as chief of staff for the Memphis city schools, five years at the Minneapolis Public Schools where she served as executive director of public affairs, and nine years at the Star Tribune with responsibilities that ranged from reporting to serving as the editor of the Metro Section.
Ms. Kelly has a Master of Education in educational leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Florida A&M University.

Ms. Kelly lives in the Saint Anthony Park neighborhood of Saint Paul.
